MIKUMI NATIONAL PARK - (3,230 Sq Km):
Mikumi lies astride the main Tanzania Zambia main road from Dar es Salaam. It's the third largest park in the land, Mikumi is scenic with its open grassland and bordering mountain ranges, its one of the most frequently toured of all parks mainly due to its accessibility. The main feature is the flood plains.
The woodlands are the favorite haunt of the lion, sometimes perching high in the trees to keep their feet dry from the sticky mud. Other features are 300 species of migrant European birds seeking refuge and joining resident stars like the lilac breasted roller. Visitors can make a day drive from Dar to Mikumi and back within a day. |
