THE MAINLAND COASTS - PANGANI:

The most ancient trading ports in E Africa (2750 B.C) close to the Usambara Mountains and Lushoto home of the endemic African violet.
RAPHTA - as this delightful village was known then, by early Portuguese sailors and later occupied by Arab traders and later German colonialist who established their headquarters before moving it to Bagamoyo.
Its palm fringed sandy bay stretches for more than 800 kilometers giving Pangani a unique romantic touch.

Passing by numerous historical moments, mosquito and graves of Arab and German settlers and the traditional palm fringed bungalow shelters gives one good insight of the 12th – 16th century.
Pangani is the first Sisal plantation seeding in Africa – 1892.
