MAHALE MOUNTAINS NATIONAL PARK:

Dominated by Mahale Mountains - 2,462mts, highest peak, this remote park enjoys a habitat of variety of wild animals such as Elephants, Warthogs, Giraffe, Zebras, Roan antelopes, Buffaloes, Hyenas, Wild dogs and Lions in the Eastern Miombo woodlands.

Chimpanzees and blue Monkeys also inhabit the mountains. They are more than 1000 chimps in about 20 communities of these fascinating mammals roaming in the isolated rainforests of Mahale, with a chain of dramatic peaks draped in lush vegetation falling to Lake Tanganyika 's beaches far below. Mahale is also a guided walking park for a closer view of the chimps.

In addition to the chimp hike, cultural enthusiasts can trace the indigenous Togwe tribe ancient pilgrimage to the mountain spirits, trekking through enclaves of rainforests to grassy ridges checkered with alpine bamboo.

After the heated walk in the forests the Lake's clear fresh waters, home to over 250 species of colorful fishes, beckons for a refreshing. swim.
